Over 750 guests took part in this year’s second edition of the Polish Ports 2030 Congress, which took place in Sopot on June 10-11. This event is entirely devoted to the issues of the port industry in Poland.
There were 10 different discussion panels. During two days of debates, about 80 panelists talked about the problems and opportunities for the development of large and small ports, finance and investments, the development of logistics, energy, security and cybersecurity, innovation and decarbonization.
The event was considered highly important, educational, and provided insights into the current situation of Polish ports in the global market.
Polish sea ports play an increasingly important role in economic processes and are an important place on the economic map of Central and Eastern Europe. We must look at the development of ports not only in the economic context, but also in the context of security. It is necessary to implement new investments, expand container ports, build terminals for offshore wind farms, and build railway and road investments – said Arkadiusz Marchewka, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of the Polish Government.
The Polish Ports 2030 Congress is accompanied by a gala during which the Lighthouses of Maritime Economy awards were presented. This year, the awards went to the following companies: Maritime Agency Gdynia, PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, Wuprohyd, MT Gdańsk International Fair, OT Logistics, the Jack Strong Foundation together with the Association of Maritime Cities and Communes. During the event, the “Lighthouses of Maritime Economy” awards were presented. The first award went to the Gdynia Port Authority for the implementation of infrastructure investments, including the construction of the Public Ferry Terminal.
The next award was given to the State Water Holding Company, Wody Polskie, for creating conditions for the development of inland navigation as a branch of port transport at the mouth of the Vistula and Oder rivers.
The Gdańsk Port Authority also received a “Lighthouse of Maritime Economy” award for its record growth in cargo handling and advancement in European port rankings in 2022.
