The Oasis of the Seas recently returned to Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades following an eight-year hiatus.Arriving back in North America after a summer program in the Mediterranean, the Royal Caribbean ship opened its winter season at the Florida port on Nov. 7, 2024.
Series of cruises
After offering a three-night cruise to the Bahamas, the ship kicked off a series of six- and eight-night cruises to the Caribbean.
The deployment includes itineraries to the Western, Eastern and Southern Caribbean, with all cruises also featuring a visit to Royal Caribbean’s private island destination in the Bahamas, Perfect Day at CocoCay.
Fort Lauderdale
As part of the year-round operations out of Fort Lauderdale, the Oasis is also scheduled to visit Falmouth in Jamaica, St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Oranjestad in Aruba, Philipsburg in St. Maarten and Willemstad in Curaçao.
Fort Lauderdale served as the original Oasis of the Seas’ homeport when it first entered service in November 2009.
It was the largest cruise ship in the world
Then the largest cruise ship in the world, the vessel offered seven-night cruises to the Caribbean departing from Port Everglades for over seven years.
With the exception of a short summer season in the Mediterranean in 2014, the ship continued to sail from Fort Lauderdale through November 2016—when it repositioned to Port Canaveral.
Vessel underwent a drydock
Before returning to the South Florida homeport this year, the Oasis of the Seas also offered itineraries from Miami and Cape Liberty, as well as Barcelona in Spain and Civitavecchia in Italy.
Completing 15 years in 2024, the 225,000-ton vessel underwent a drydock in Europe before returning to North America.
At least, mid-April 2026.
During the month-long shipyard visit, the Oasis underwent technical maintenance, in addition to class work and minor updates to public areas and cabins.
The ship is scheduled to continue sailing from Fort Lauderdale on a year-round basis through, at least, mid-April 2026.
