Canada’s port authorities : Accelerate infrastructure projects

On behalf of the 17 Canada Port Authorities (CPAs) and industry partners, the Association of Canadian Port Authorities  (ACPA ) extends congratulations to Canada’s next government under the leadership of Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Ready to work with the new government

Canada’s port authorities are ready to work with the new government to accelerate infrastructure projects and diversify Canada’s global trade. We share the government’s commitment to getting projects approved and shovels in the ground faster — essential to strengthening Canada’s economic security and global competitiveness.

Enhancing Canada’s position in global markets

Canada’s port authorities are vital to connecting Canada to the world and play a key role in supporting the federal government’s economic and trade agenda. Targeted investments in infrastructure, new terminals, and modernized marine security protocols will boost supply chain resilience and reliability, enhancing Canada’s position in global markets.

Greater autonomy to make investment decisions

To fully realize Canada’s economic potential, Canada’s port authorities must have greater autonomy to make investment decisions, expand capacity, and finance revenue-generating projects. More agile ports mean a stronger, more diversified trade future for Canada.

About ACPA

Founded in 1958, the Association of Canadian Port Authorities brings together the 17 Canada Port Authorities and related marine interests into one national association.

ACPA is the champion and advocate for Canadian ports in matters related to government policy, trade, competitiveness, and public awareness, in order to contribute to a sustainable, clean, efficient, and reliable intermodal supply chain and transportation system.

To achieve its objectives, ACPA is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of members from four regions – Pacific, Great Lakes, St. Lawrence, and Atlantic – while its day-to-day operations are carried out by a dedicated Ottawa-based team. The association also has numerous committees working on specific issues and matters on behalf of the Board and ACPA members.
