From 1 April 2025, Andrea Cappa will officially take up the role of General Director of Confetra (Italian General Confederation of Transport and Logistics), taking over from Giuseppe Mele, who resigned for personal reasons according to Shipping Italy
Born in 1970, Cappa currently holds the positions of Secretary General of Alsea (Lombardy Association of Freight Forwarders and Haulers) and Anama (Federation of Air Agents).
“The task that awaits me will not be easy, but I can count on a highly qualified team and on a heritage of traditions, ideas and values that have always made Confetra a point of reference for companies in the sector,” commented the director general in pectore of the confederation.
At the suggestion of President Carlo De Ruvo
Cappa’s appointment, which came at the suggestion of President Carlo De Ruvo, had already been approved by the confederal council in December. On that occasion, the council itself had expressed heartfelt thanks to the outgoing Director Mele “for the work done and the results achieved”

However, the legislative proposal is already on the horizon and could introduce more stringent constraints in the medium-long term.
Establish of Confetra
Established on April 13, 1946, Confetra represents at a political, economic, social and trade union level the business categories operating in the sectors of transport, shipping, logistics and warehousing of goods, as well as in related and auxiliary sectors. In addition to boasting the greatest representation in the reference sector, Confetra is also the only organization at the confederal level that is completely autonomous from any other organization.
