“DNV” approves the training programs of the Suez Canal Academy

“DNV” granted the international accreditation certificate for the training programs provided by the Suez Canal Academy for Maritime Training and Simulations in Ismailia,

The two basic programs at the Academy, namely Safe Navigation in the Suez Canal and the Electronic Charting System “ECDIS”, obtained the international accreditation certificate “DNV-ST-0008 Learning Programs”,

Competitive classification

This is after completing the inspection and auditing work during the current month of October, which contributes to raising the competitive classification of the Suez Canal Academy globally in the field of providing maritime training services.

This certificate comes as a continuation of the international accreditation plan for the Suez Canal Center for Maritime Training and Simulation in several fields and its transformation into an accredited academy for maritime training,

Certified Trainer

It is noteworthy that had previously obtained DNV certificate as an internationally accredited academy in the field of providing maritime training services in June 2022, and then the Authority accredited a number of trainers at the Academy by passing the training course “Preparing the Certified Trainer” in December 2023.

For his part, Admiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of the S CA expressed his pride in the Suez Canal Academy for Training’s continued efforts to develop its capabilities and potential and gain the trust of international maritime institutions, and highlight its ability to be a global destination for ship captains to hone their skills

Stressing that obtaining the training programs provided by the Academy for the international accreditation certificate is an important step towards placing the Academy among the distinguished global centers in providing maritime training services.

Ashraf Bilal, Head of “DNV in Egypt, praised the Suez Canal Academy for Maritime Training and Simulation’s training programs for international standards, and the inclusion of a group of highly qualified trainers who also comply with approved international measurements, which enables the Academy to provide accredited international certificates to various ship captains in the fields of Electronic Marine Charts and safe crossing  of the Suez Canal.

Maritime Simulation and Training

It is noteworthy that that the Maritime Simulation and Training Center was established in 1996 and is one of the most important training centers in Africa and the Middle East with its accumulated experience in the field of maritime training using simulation systems.
