Domenico Bagalà : A new Chairman of the Sardinia Port Authority

An experienced port manager, he was previously managing director of Contship Italia’s container terminals in Gioia Tauro and Caglia

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, has signed the decree appointing Domenico Bagalà as Special Commissioner of the Sardinian Sea Port Authority, which manages the ports of Cagliari, Olbia, Golfo Aranci, Porto Torres, Oristano, Santa Teresa Gallura, Portovesme, and Arbatax.

This was announced in a communication from the Roman ministry itself, underlining that the temporary commissionership is aimed at ensuring administrative continuity and full operation of the Authority until the ordinary governing bodies are restored.

The appointment was formally communicated to the Sardinia Region on the same date as the provision. The Ministry of Transport reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the continuity of management of the country’s strategic ports and confirms the centrality of the port of Cagliari in the national logistics and infrastructure system.

Born in 1967, from Vibo Valentia, Calabria, Domenico Baglà previously managed major port terminals;A Calabrese, Bagalà, who for years led Contship in the Cagliari canal port, is well versed in the world of transhipment and freight terminals. Until March 2016, he led Medcenter (also part of the Contship group) in Gioia Tauro, where he was born. An engineer, he has lived in Cagliari for years, and his resume also includes experience in Tangier, Morocco.
