ُEgyptian Ministry of Transport intends to establish the first container factory in Egypt in collaboration with an Egyptian company to overcome the problem of the shortage of containers used in transporting goods, according to a statement by the Ministry of Transport and Industry
This step comes at a time when the Ministry of Transport and Industry is studying with the Ministry of Supply to develop a set of measures to facilitate the transport and circulation of basic consumer goods at reasonable prices and high transport quality.
“We are working to increase the percentage of reliance on river and railway transport to transport wheat and goods in a way that ensures the efficient use of the railway and river transport system,” according to the Minister of Supply, Dr. Sherif Farouk.
River transport contributes to reducing the cost of transportation, in addition to being one of the safest means of transportation with the least accidents and energy consumption, in addition to reducing emissions that pollute the environment and the ability to transport loads of unusual lengths and weights.
The two ministers discussed removing the obstacles facing some trucks at seaports and border land ports and providing a number of trucks through the transport companies affiliated with the Ministry of Transport and maximizing the transport of wheat and strategic goods by rail.
The Ministry of Transport has implemented 7 integrated international development logistics corridors to link production areas (industrial – agricultural – mining – service) to seaports with fast and safe means of transportation passing through dry ports and integrated logistics areas, according to Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir.
