Saudi Arabia’s Folk Maritime Services Company has announced that it has signed a strategic agreement with Shanghai-based Yangshan Logistics Equipment Company to build 5,600 sea freight containers, as part of the Public Investment Fund’s efforts and expansion plans for its fleet of vehicles.
According to a statement by the company, under this agreement, Folk Marine will add 4,500 20-foot multi-purpose containers and 1,100 40-foot high-roof containers to its fleet. All containers are fully recyclable, reflecting the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility and supporting Saudi Arabia’s vision for a more sustainable future.
The statement said that the containers have been equipped with advanced technologies including the latest Internet of Things (IoT) monitoring technology, as part of Folk Maritime’s expansion plans, and will be applied across the dry container fleet.
Improving operational efficiency
The integration of these advanced technological solutions will contribute to improving operational efficiency and enhancing safety, by providing real-time location updates, in addition to contributing to improving routes across trade corridors and reducing delays. They also include geo-fencing and tampering detection technologies, which prevent unauthorized access, ensuring the safety of goods.

The statement said that the containers have been equipped with advanced technologies including the latest Internet of Things (IoT) technology for monitoring, as part of Fulak Maritime’s expansion plans, where these technologies will be applied across the dry container fleet.

It also includes Geo-fencing and tampering detection technologies, which prevent unauthorized access, ensuring the safety of goods.
