Around 80,000 items of counterfeit clothing, bags, shoes, accessories, perfumes and packaging were seized by the Guardia di Finanza in the port of Bari inside two containers.Shipping Italy reported

In the first, arriving from Turkey, 70,000 items with logos of well-known international brands were found. To evade controls, Customs explained in a note, the goods had been hidden with a cover load consisting of around 40,000 items of various types of clothing, without distinctive signs, which were also seized and have already been donated to some charitable organizations.

In the second container, coming from Greece, over 8 thousand shoes were found, also attributable to models of well-known international brands and counterfeit.

All the counterfeit items found were seized, with the charge of introducing into the State and trading products with false markings

Carried out by officials from the Customs Office and the Guardia di Finanza of Bari, the operation – the agency explains in a note – is the result of a “targeted analysis” of the risks on trade flows and on goods entering Italy, conducted by cross-referencing data on routes, types of transport, consistency between the declared goods and the shipping and receiving companies, with the information present in the relevant databases.
