Itani: Beirut port moving cargo out regardless of the Israeli strikes

Beirut Port Authority is working to move goods out of the port regardless of the Israeli strikes, reported the director of the port of the Lebanese capital, Omar Itani.

“We are working to get goods out of the port in anticipation of an attack,”, Itani said in a comment on the Al Arabiya TV channel.

Not imposed a blockade

He noted that Israel “has not yet imposed a blockade” about the port in the city. “Merchant ships are still arriving at the port almost normally,” added the director of Lebanon’s largest port.

Maersk continued its operations 

Maersk announced that Despite the ongoing business disruptions at Beirut’s port has continued its operations in the region.

The Danish shipping giant remains committed to its customers, ensuring cargo delivery despite the logistical challenges caused by political unrest and economic difficulties in Lebanon.

“Arrows of the North”

On September 23, Israel launched the “Arrows of the North” operation. against Hezbollah formations, during which it carried out massive airstrikes on military targets of the movement.

He is xplaining that the fire that broke out was outside the port, but near the fuel tanks.

Top 10 seaports

It is noteworthy that Port of Beirut is among the top 10 seaports in the Mediterranean Sea and is considered the gateway to the Middle East.

The port was transformed through self-financing from a local port to a regional and a transshipment hub for the region.
