MAWANI achieved a 7.82% increase during September 2024

The ports supervised by the Saudi Ports Authority, “Mawani,” achieved a 7.82% increase in cargo throughput tonnage during September 2024, reaching 28,097,022 tons compared to 26,058,554 tons in the same month of 2023.

The number of exported containers recorded an increase of 9%, reaching 255,606 TEUs compared to 234,663 TEUs in the same period in 2023. The number of imported containers also rose by 18%, reaching 258,007 TEUs compared to 217,933 TEUs last year.

The total general cargo amounted to 975,406 tons, solid bulk cargo to 4,473,019 tons, and liquid bulk cargo to 15,277,608 tons. Meanwhile, the ports received 343,952 cattle heads, marking a decrease of 35.58% compared to 533,948 cattle heads in the same period of 2023.

The total number of handled containers amounted to 673,124 TEUs, marking a decrease of 8.08% compared to 732,319 TEUs last year. Transshipment containers decreased by 42.98%, reaching 159,511 TEUs compared to 279,723 TEUs in 2023.

Shipping traffic also decreased by 5.18%, reaching 988 ships compared to 1,042 ships in 2023. The number of passengers declined by 39.46%, reaching 44,166 passengers compared to 72,956 passengers last year.

However, the number of vehicles increased by 10.51%, reaching 98,087 vehicles compared to 88,755 vehicles last year.It is worth noting that “Mawani achieved a 26.57% increase in handling tonnage during September 2024, reaching 30,527,279 tons compared to 24,118,698 tons in the same month of 2023.

The number of exported containers also recorded an increase of 18.76%, reaching 258,955 TEUs compared to 218,051 TEUs last year.

Moreover, the number of imported containers recorded an increase of 15.24%, reaching 261,288 TEUs compared to 226,738 TEUs last year, in line with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) to solidify the Kingdom’s standing as a global logistics hub bridging the three continents.”
