MSC has become the latest cruise line to announce an order for more megaships.

It will add two World-class ships to its fleet, which carry nearly 7000 passengers.

This joins recent announcements from other major lines that they also plan to bolster their fleets.

MSC Cruises order other series of cruise ship
MSC already has four ships of this size, with MSC World Europa, MSC World America, MSC World Asia, and MSC World Atlantic. In addition to the further two (the fifth and sixth) new World Class units ordered from Chantiers de l’Atlantique and made official in recent days (which will bring the fleet to 27 units in 2030, barring any decommissioning), MSC Cruises is preparing to order other series of cruise ships that will be built in France and Finland.
MSC doesn’t sail out of Australia
MSC notably doesn’t sail out of Australia, with ships only occasionally stopping as part of a larger cruise. It was previously floated that MSC Asia could operate some cruises out of Australia, but it has not come to fruition.

Carnival Corporation
On the other hand Not only MSC but also Carnival Corporation, again according to rumors collected by SHIPPING ITALY, would be close to signing a contract with the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg for another pair of ships of 180,000 gross tons that it is not excluded could go to reinforce the fleet of the Costa brand that has returned to sailing with the wind in its sails (also from an economic point of view) and instead destined to operate with only eight ships once the Costa Fortuna is also sold in 2026.
