MSC Inaugurates New Barcelona Terminal with Explora II

Ceremony to mark the arrival of Explora II, one of the five ships of the company that will call at Catalonia this season

MSC Group’s cruise division has officially inaugurated the new MSC Barcelona Cruise Terminal on the occasion of the first call of Explora II– the second ship of the luxury ocean travel brand Explora Journeys.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Spanish government officials, local authorities and MSC Group executives, including Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman, cruise division, MSC Group; Gianluca Suprani, SVP global port development, MSC Cruises; and Anna Nash, global president, Explora Journeys.

Sustainable model of tourism

The landmark terminal

The landmark terminal was designed by the renowned Catalan architecture firm Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura. “This state-of-the-art building was conceived to provide continuity to the cruise experience, allowing guests, from their arrival at the terminal, to embark on a journey that reflects the elegance, comfort and service they will find on board.

The commercial area

The commercial area, the spacious waiting room with ample seating and the exclusive VIP lounge for our premium guests create an elevated pre-boarding experience with privileged views. In the upcoming season

In the upcoming season, 5 MSC ships will call at the capital of Catalonia as part of their Mediterranean cruises: MSC World Europa, MSC Seaview, MSC Seaside, MSC Magnifica and MSC Orchestra. The luxury ship Explora II will also call regularly during the summer season and Barcelona will be one of its main ports.
