Over the next two years, the president will focus his efforts on strengthening the network of ports and addressing global challenges, from decarbonization to digital transformation.
Pino Musolino, extraordinary commissioner of the Port System Authority of the Central-Northern Tyrrhenian Sea (Adsp Mtcs), was unanimously reconfirmed as president of MEDports for the next two years according to Shipping Italy
The decision was taken in Tangier during the annual General Assembly and the Forum of the association, as a testimony to the work done by Musolino in promoting Mediterranean ports.
The Forum’s work
The Forum’s work included sessions dedicated to crucial issues such as smart logistics, renewable energy and maritime safety, confirming the dynamism and commitment of MEDports in promoting the Mediterranean as a hub for cooperation and progress.
Musolino’s re-election reflects
Musolino’s re-election reflects the trust of the 33 members (ports and port organisations from the Mediterranean area) in his leadership, which has helped grow the association since its foundation in 2018. During his first mandate, MEDports expanded its network, launched key projects on ecological and digital transitions and consolidated the role of ports as hubs of connectivity and inclusive growth.
Engines of economic development
“I am honored by the reconfirmation and grateful for the trust that MEDports members continue to place in me,” said Musolino. “Tangier is today not only the seat of this important forum, but represents a tangible example of how, with a clear vision and the ability to realize it, ports can become engines of economic development, centers of innovation and research and places of regional integration.”
Strengthen the MEDports network
Musolino, for the next two years, reiterated the commitment to further strengthen the MEDports network, increasing the number of members. The president also believes it is a priority to jointly address global challenges, from decarbonization to digital transformation, without neglecting the rediscovered centrality of the Mediterranean as a bridge between continents; given the current geopolitical tensions, the need to work to make MEDports an increasingly effective platform, capable of translating strategies into concrete actions for the benefit of all members and the territories represented, is even more pressing.
