The new areas for industrial logistics were inaugurated at the Darsena Est of the port of Piombino: a space, as underlined by the note from the Port Authority of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea, which is of vital importance for the port which now, after almost 3 and a half years of work, it will be fully available for the development of future commercial activities.Shipping Italy reported
Works and systems
Specifically, the works relating to the complete infrastructure of approximately 200,000 square meters of yards have been substantially carried out and completed;
In particular, all the underground works and systems have been carried out (special system pipes, electric cable drilling, earthing system, rainwater collection network, fire prevention system network, drinking and industrial water network, black water sewerage network, building and construction foundations specialized areas), paving and access roads.
Three lots
Divided into three lots, the second of which was provisionally assigned under concession to Piombino Industrie Marittime (Pim) as a form of compensation for the subtraction from it of a portion of the state-owned maritime areas placed at the service of the regasifier’s activities, the area was created at the end of a long design and construction process that began in 2013 with the approval of the Port Master Plan
Concrete actions
The mayor of Piombino, Francesco Ferrari,said : “The areas that are inaugurated today are part of a path made up of infrastructural works. We inaugurated the little road; there is a construction site visible after decades, that of the 398, and with the completion of the new areas we are witnessing a change made of concrete actions”.
