GNV Polaris arrived in Italy, in Naples, the first of four newly built ships commissioned in China by the MSC Group for GNV.
Departed on 30 October
“Departed on 30 October from the Guangzhou Shipyard International shipyard in China, it crossed two oceans and traveled approximately 14,000 miles to reach the Mediterranean where it will enter service on 7 January 2025 on the Genoa – Palermo route” reads a company note.

GNV Polaris has a gross tonnage of approximately 46,000 tonnes, a length of 218 meters, a width of 29.60 It is equipped with 239 cabins and has a loading capacity of 1,500 passengers and 3,100 linear metres.
Like the other three units currently under construction, it is equipped with all the provisions for cold ironing, allowing for a significant reduction in emissions, as well as an improvement in air and acoustic quality at a local levelmeters and can reach a maximum speed of 25 knots.

It also boasts exhaust gas cleaning systems, selective catalytic reduction and heat recycling technologies to meet IMO Tier III and EEDI Phase II requirements,” the statement added.
Each of the four ferries commissioned (through Unitramp Shipbrokers) from the GSI shipyard has a value of 150 million euros.
