Abdel Ghaffar announced that the Arab Academy would be offering scholarships to Algerian students. This was in celebration of the Aida 4's first official visit and the warm welcome it received.

Today, Wednesday, July 22, 2026, the ship Aida 4 (IMO 9018775, MMSI 622115001 -sailing under the flag of Egypt ), owned by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, is docked at the port of Algiers in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. This is part of its first official visit, which is due to last several days.

 Professor Dr Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of AASTMT, welcomed several officials from the Ministry of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, including Mr Abdelghani Dridi, Secretary General of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria; Ambassador Abdel Latif Layeh, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Algeria; and Mr Hadji Mohamed, Director General of the Port of Algiers Authority, on board the ship upon its arrival at the port of Algiers.

 Educational and training opportunities

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, along with the Director General of the Port of Algiers Authority, welcomed the ship upon its arrival in the presence of the Egyptian Ambassador, to discuss potential areas of cooperation and learn about the educational and training opportunities offered by the Aida 4 for preparing, training, and qualifying maritime personnel.

Those in attendance at the reception ceremony included Engineer Ahmed El-Reis, Advisor to the President of the Academy for Engineering Affairs at the Maritime Training Institute; Dr Captain Amr Samir Nassir, Dean of the Maritime Training Institute; Captain Mohamed Shindy, Captain of the Aida 4; Engineer Mohamed Walid, Head of the Engineering Training Department; Captain Mamdouh Awad, Head of the Maritime Training Department; and Engineer Rashad Aref, Chief Engineer.

 The practical training programmes offered to students 

The ship's advanced technical and educational capabilities, as well as the practical training programmes offered to students, were reviewed by Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar during the reception. He also looked at the latest equipment and facilities used to develop maritime and navigational skills on board. He also gave a comprehensive tour of the ship's facilities. Mr Abdelghani Dridi, Secretary General of the Ministry of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, welcomed the arrival of the Aida 4 on its first official visit to the Port of Algiers. He further elaborated that the inaugural visit of the Aida 4 to the port is intended to establish the foundations for future collaboration with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.

Mr Haji Mohamed, the Chairman and CEO of the Port of Algiers Authority, warmly welcomed the President of the Academy, as well as the ship Aida 4, its crew and its students, immediately after the ship successfully docked at the Port of Algiers. He was delighted to see young maritime professionals on board the Aida 4 at the Port of Algiers.

For his part, Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of AASTMT, expressed his pleasure at the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, the Chairman and CEO of the Port of Algiers Authority, and the Egyptian Ambassador to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria at the reception of the Aida 4 at the Port of Algiers. He emphasised the importance of the Aida 4's visit to the Port of Algiers, especially as it was the ship's maiden visit to the port. He confirmed that this visit represents a new milestone, symbolising the strong fraternal relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.

.Training trip for its students

It is noteworthy that the ship Aida 4 had arrived at the port of Algiers in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria on a training trip for its 150 male and female students, who hailed from the countries of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Yemen, Kuwait, Sudan and Egypt.
