PCG Rescues 26 Crew of distressed vessel in Siquijor

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has rescued 26 passengers and crew of distressed passenger vessel, MV APEKOP 2, approximately one nautical mile from the Port of Larena, Siquijor on June 15, 2024.

While underway to Tagbilaran, Bohol, the passenger vessel experienced a fuel injection pump malfunction, which left it stranded at sea, as the PCG reported in a social media post.

The rescue operation, conducted under challenging conditions, resulted in the safe evacuation of 26 passengers and crew members, all of whom were in good physical condition.

The Philippine’s Coast Guard Station Siquijor utilized BRP Cape San Agustin (MRRV-4408) to conduct rescue operations.

After ensuring that the passengers and crew were in good physical condition, the responding Coast Guard team towed the distressed vessel to Larena Port for necessary repairs and maintenance.

The PCG’s swift response and effective coordination prevented any casualties and ensured the safety of all individuals on board.
