Petrogas E&P achieves first gas in Dutch sector of the North Sea

Petrogas E&P Netherlands, an affiliate of Oman-based Petrogas E&P, has started production on a gas field in the Dutch sector of the North Sea

Petrogas E&P Netherlands, which is the field’s operator, and its partners EBN, Rockrose, and TAQA Offshore disclosed that the first well on the B10 platform in the Dutch sector of the North Sea produced its first gas on July 6.

Stage 2+ project

This forms part of the Dutch firm’s Stage 2+ project, which also entails the A15 field that achieved its first production in February.

The field encompasses the A15 platform, described by the firm as “zero emission”, and three wells, all of which are online.

Noble Resolute jack-up rig

The Dutch player intends to continue drilling the remaining two wells at B10 using the Noble Resolute jack-up rig, whose contract it recently extended. The wells are scheduled for completion in August.

HSM Offshore Energy

It is noteworthy Petrogas E&P Netherlands B.V. has awarded Heerema Marine Contractors an integrated engineering, preparation, removal, and disposal (EPRD) decommissioning contract for multiple North Sea platforms and the development of the A15 and B10 gas fields to Enersea in 2021, while HSM Offshore Energy was selected to build two platforms for the project in 2022.

The work involves removing the Haven, Hoorn, Helm, and Helder platforms from Block Q1 of the Dutch sector in the Southern North Sea. The execution of the offshore removals will take place over several years.

A TNO study

On the other hand A TNO study commissioned by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy has shown the that small fields offshore in the North Sea hold 16.8 billion cubic meters more natural gas than previously thought
