Pilot Boats Arrive at Jeddah Port and Raising of the Saudi Flag

The first pilot boat has arrived at Jeddah Islamic Port as part of the new attribution contracts. These pilot boats have high capabilities, with power up to 3,800 kW, dimensions of 11.6 meters, a draft of 4.16 meters, and a speed of up to 12.5 knots.

The new pilot boats, on which the Saudi flag was raised in the presence of  Mr. Omar Hariri, President of the Saudi Ports Authority, are distinguished by being equipped with the latest technologies in tugboat manufacturing.

They are designed specifically for towing fifth-generation container ships, adding to the fleet of marine tugboats. This contributes to enhancing the operational performance of piloting operations at the port and achieving the targeted operational performance indicators.

Eight ports

These pilot boats assist large marine ships in safely entering and exiting ports and docking at marine berths.

It is worth noting that the Saudi Ports Authority has signed four contracts for providing marine services with private sector investments exceeding one billion riyals.

These contracts were signed with “Zamil Marine Services” and “Naghi Marine” to provide a range of services in eight ports across the Kingdom, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services and the National Center for Privatization.
