ِA window to global maritime transport

Poland’s area has increased by 36 hectares, but this is not an ordinary land. This is a place of dynamic development of our country. When we laid the cornerstone here a year ago, I said that this is a window to global maritime transport and I still stand by these words. We have evidence of this, the Port of Gdansk and the Baltic Hub is an increasingly stronger place that integrates Poland with global trade – emphasized Arkadiusz Marchewka.

An absolute record in the history of Poland and the Baltic Hub

Last year, the result of transhipped containers in Polish ports was almost 3 million 300 thousand TEU. This is an absolute record in the history of Poland and the Baltic Hub has a significant share in this. What’s more, the latest data show that in 2024 the value of customs duties, excise duties, VAT taxes charged here is almost PLN 56 billion, which is one billion more than a year earlier. These are not ordinary numbers. This is proof that Polish ports and the Polish maritime economy are developing very dynamically and we want this development to be even faster – he added.

Opening this T3 terminal : A good investment

Prof. Marek Grzybowski – chairman of the Polish Nautical Society, president of the Baltic Maritime and Space Cluster said: opening this T3 terminal today is exceptionally timely and a good investment because the European Union, including Poland, will certainly continue to benefit from good supply chains and will increasingly cooperate with the world. Our chance is that if we have terminals such as the Baltic Hub, we should develop pro-export and re-export production, and not only produce for the Polish or European market, or import consumer products. We need to import products for consumption production, process them, refine them and export them, just like the fishing industry or the yacht construction industry, the Polish specialist ship construction industry, the space industry does.

Re-export industries

– These industries are re-export industries. We do not rely on our own raw materials, we import raw materials and components from all over the world and re-export them, just like the fishing industry, the yacht building industry and the space industry, which in many cases also rely on components from abroad. We must do the same in other types of industry, taking advantage of the fact that the Baltic Hub has developed and expanded and that a container terminal will soon be built in Świnoujście and an external container terminal will be built in Gdynia – said Prof. Marek Grzybowski – chairman of the Polish Nautical Society, president of the Baltic Maritime and Space Cluster.

T3 at the Baltic Hub

– On behalf of the Port of Gdansk Authority, first of all, I would like to thank everyone who is creating this investment, which is T3 at the Baltic Hub – said Dorota Pyć – President of the Port of Gdansk Authority. I would also like to thank you for all the enormous work you have put into it over 20 years. The work began in 2005. On June 1, 2025, the Baltic Hub will be 18 years old. We are perceived very well in the world – she added.

Terminal T3 is located on a 36-hectare area and is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2025. Thanks to its launch, the annual transshipment capacity of Baltic Hub will increase from 3 to 4.5 million TEU, which will place the Gdańsk port among the largest container terminals in Europe. Key infrastructure includes a 717-meter-long quay with a depth of 17.5 meters, enabling the handling of the largest container ships in the world.
