Port of Rotterdam : Drug Busts Cocaine Discovered in One Week

The Netherlands officials made consecutive drug seizures in the last week from the Port of ROTTERDAM. More than 700 kg of cocaine was discovered from different containers at the port and has been seized by the officials.

Routine inspection

On August 14, the Public Prosecution Service, Netherlands reported that during a routine inspection by customs officers, 514 kilograms of cocaine was found concealed in one of the containers of avocados, which arrived from Peru passing through Panama to Rotterdam.

The container was heading to a company in De Lier.The police believe that the company was not involved in the drug smuggling

Another 100 kilograms of cocaine was found in a different container of avocado, which arrived at Rotterdam Port through the same route.

Subsequently, on August 15, the Public Prosecution Service, Netherlands stated that the customs, during a check-in at the Port of Rotterdam, uncovered 39 kilograms of cocaine in a refrigerated container.

Regular inspection

Following this, on August 16, again, 60 kilograms of cocaine was seized from the container carrying bananas following a regular inspection conducted by customs at the Port of Rotterdam.

Company in Zeeland

The container carrying the fruit came from Costa Rica and was heading for a company in Zeeland, which is again presumed to be a proxy and not involved in the smuggling.

InvestigatingĀ 

714 kilograms of cocaine had been discovered worth around $59 million. The authorities have destroyed the drugs and are investigating the drug cases
