Admiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) received today, Monday, Mr. Derk te bokkel, CEO of Dutch IHC Shipyard, accompanied by a high-level delegation, to discuss future cooperation, in the presence of a number of members of the Authority’s Board of Directors, at the Guidance Building in Ismailia Governorate.
This comes within the framework of the extended cooperation between SCA and Dutch IHC Shipyard, It is the first official visit to the Authority since Mr. Derk te bokkel assumed his position as CEO of the Dutch Shipyard.
At the beginning of the meeting, Rabie expressed his aspiration to invest in the extended cooperation and partnership relations between the two sides and achieve more successes and joint work to achieve a new strategic goal by exploring ways to localize the dredger construction industry in the Egyptian national shipyards.
The Chairman of SCA praised the distinguished level and dredging rates achieved by the dredgers “Mohab Mamish” and “Hussein Tantawi” during their participation in the Southern Sector Development Project, which reflects the capabilities and capacities of the two newest dredgers in the Authority’s marine fleet built by the Dutch IHC shipyard.
Rabie dedicated that the future holds promising opportunities for continuing the efforts made towards developing the Authority’s marine fleet and including various dredgers and marine units that are compatible with the nature of the increasing needs to develop the Canal’s navigation channel and keep pace with modern trends to use environmentally friendly applications according to the latest global technology in the marine industry.
On the other hand Mr. Derk te bokkel, CEO of IHC Shipyard Netherlands,stressed that the Suez Canal Authority ( SCA ) remains a distinguished client and partner with whom we have many successful joint projects, which makes us always ready to discuss work mechanisms and ways of future cooperation.
The CEO of IHC Shipyard Netherlands explained that the shipyard adopts modern work strategies to build dredgers with new technology that allows them to operate using traditional fuel and green fuel, so that the operating fuel is chosen according to operating strategies and standards related to cost and availability in a way that meets customer requirements and keeps pace with modern trends in the maritime industry.
