The authorities succeeded in rescuing 4 of the boat’s crew, and a few hours later, two others were rescued.
A tourist boat carrying six crew members sank off the coast of Jabal Al-Zayt, north of Hurghada, in the Red Sea on Thursday evening.
The Egyptian authorities received a report of a boat sinking near Jabal al-Zeit, on the Red Sea coast, due to bad weather conditions. Rescue units were immediately dispatched, and succeeded in rescuing 4 of the boat’s crew. A few hours later, two others were rescued, and the entire boat’s crew was rescued and transferred to a naval unit to receive medical care.
The ill-fated boat, named “Tri Ton”, was heading from the coast of Rashid city in Beheira governorate to Hurghada city, and was exposed to high waves and strong winds that led to water leaking into it and sinking near Jabal Al-Zeit. It turned out that the boat was carrying 6 people, and the authorities succeeded in rescuing them all before proceeding to recover the sunken boat and opening an investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident.
