Among the most significant ones found on the Marshall Islands-flagged vessel was the total inoperability of the only lifeboat.
The Venice Coast Guard has stopped a bulk carrier in Porto Marghera due to 13 irregularities found on board.The ship, over 220 meters long and weighing over 43 thousand tons, flies the flag of the Marshall Islands and is managed by a shipping company with registered office in Greece.
The irregularities
Among the irregularities detected, attributable to some of the most significant international conventions in the maritime field, such as the total malfunction of the propulsion of the only Free-Fall type lifeboat, it is inoperative in the event of abandoning the ship.
Faults in the auxiliary machinery
On the ship, faults were found in the auxiliary machinery on board and fire-fighting systems, as well as irregularities regarding the health and safety of maritime workers and incorrect management of waste on board.
Serious shortcomings
Finally, serious shortcomings emerged with respect to the correct management of emergencies, with particular regard to the ability to deal with fires on board.The ship will therefore remain moored in port and will not be able to sail again until the irregularities found are restored according to Shipping Italy
