They are protesting the company’s decision to freeze the agreements signed regarding shifts, boarding periods, use and reduction of crews, stabilization of staff and payment of emoluments
The Sicilian regional secretariats of Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl and Uiltrasporti have proclaimed a new strike action lasting 48 hours of all the staff of Caronte & Tourist Isole Minori, from 5:00 a.m. on March 18, 2025 to 4:59 a.m. on March 20.according to Shipping Italy
Strike January 31
A note recalls that this second day of mobilization follows the 24-hour strike already carried out on January 31, due to the unilateral decision of the company to freeze the agreements signed regarding shifts, boarding periods, use and reduction of crews, stabilization of staff and payment of emoluments.
Imposed a shift system
During the previous strike, the trade unions denounced that the company imposed a shift system that did not comply with the rules of engagement, asking workers to perform executive functions outside their classification.
These unilateral actions, in the opinion of the trade unions, could compromise the safety standards for workers and passengers.
Problems of maritime connections
The strike proclamation also explains that, “despite a ministerial meeting held on February 6, in which a technical table was opened to address the problems of maritime connections with the smaller islands of Sicily and to verify the economic appropriateness of the National Convention, all the critical issues that led to the first strike action remain unresolved”.
Restoring working conditions.
Caronte & Tourist Isole Minori, according to the unions, “has continued to impose work shifts and functions that do not respect the second level agreements”. The trade unions for these regions have called this second strike action with the aim of resolving the problems exposed and restoring the agreed working conditions.

The shipping company C&T Isole Minori has taken action by arranging the minimum services to be guaranteed between Sicily and the smaller islands, identifying ships and commanded workers
