The International Maritime Congress will be held in Szczecin – May

Congress will discus Global threats to maritime transport and securing ports in these uncertain times and new RU policy for Maritime Sector

After a year’s break, one of the most important maritime industry events in Poland and Europe the International Maritime Congress will be held in Szczecin on 15-16 May. This is the 11th edition of this most important conference event in the Polish maritime industry. The most important issues related to the maritime economy will appear in the plenary and panel discussions..

New EU policy for the maritime sector

There will be talks on, among others, the new EU policy for the maritime sector and current global threats to maritime transport. The event will be held under the patronage of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The special guest of the congress will be Sotiris Raptis, Secretary General of the European Community Shipowners’ Association (ECSA).

Polish Presidency of the Council of EU

This year’s edition of the International Maritime Congress will be exceptional, because the sessions will take place during the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union and under the patronage of this Presidency. The decision in this matter has just been made. For this reason, the organizers expect a strong representation of European institutions related to transport and the maritime economy.

Regulatory challenges and strategies

The first day of the Congress will feature plenary debates, which will address issues such as the new industrial policy of the European Union in the maritime sector, regulatory challenges and strategies for the maritime economy, and the maritime dimension in the development of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).

Participants in the debate

The debate participants will include such personalities as Gesine Meisser, Coordinator for the European Maritime Space, and Isabelle Ryckbost, Secretary General of the European Sea Ports Organization. ESPO Representatives of ports from Latvia and Finland, among others, and of course representatives of Polish ports, will also participate in the discussions.

The second day of the Congress

The second day of the Congress will be devoted to panel discussions. They will be divided into blocks, the broad topics of which will cover all the most important aspects of the maritime industry’s activities at present. In the block dedicated to ports and shipping, participants will discuss global threats to maritime transport and securing ports in these uncertain times. In this topic, separate attention will be paid to the issues of automation as an element of the safety system in shipping.

New strategies for blue economy

There will of course be talks about new strategies for the changing situation on the shipping and port market. In another block, the discussion will focus on the so-called blue economy, i.e. the use of marine resources for sustainable development.

The organizer

The organizer of the 11th International Maritime Congress is the Maritime Congress Foundation established by the Northern Chamber of Commerce in Szczecin and the biggest Polish shipowner Polsteam.
