The Mimer ship chartered by Finnish Godby Shipping will directly connect Chioggia with Benghazi and Misurata, and will then also call at Izmir and Mersin in Türkiye and Alexandria in Egypt
“In collaboration with our partners in Dubai, we have taken on time-charter from the Finnish shipowner Godby Shipping the ٌRO RO vessel Mimer which will be delivered to us in Turkey at the end of April.
The vessel will be used in our new RO RO service offered under the Midline Shipping brand from the Fhp terminal in Chioggia to Benghazi and Misurata and of which we as Agencies Srl are general agents for Europe and Türkiye”.
The launch of this new direct line
The launch of this new direct line for the maritime transport of rolling cargo between the North Adriatic and Libya was announced to SHIPPING ITALY by Loris Trevisan, shipping agent, freight forwarder and now maritime carrier again.

The planned rotation for the ship will also touch the Turkish ports of Izmir and Mersin, as well as Alexandria in Egypt.“The service is mainly aimed at the Benghazi market, which is undergoing a period of reconstruction Rapid growth” adds Trevisan, also underlining that “the vessel has a cargo capacity of approximately 1,030 linear meters and 4,491 Dwt, with a loading ramp with a capacity of up to 180 tons. The line is aimed in particular at project cargo (on Mafi), machinery and large rolling stock”.

The frequency of this new line includes landings in Italy every 15-18 days and the first departure from the Venice-Chioggia terminal is set around May 8th with a ‘direct’ return to Benghazi of only 4 days. “We will be the only RO RO service direct to Benghazi in the entire Mediterranean” is the conclusion of Loris Trevisan who on May 9th will be a speaker at the Business Meeting “Traghetti e Ro-Ro” organized in Genoa by SHIPPING ITALY.
