A 1,000-metre-long, 1,000-mm-diameter drilling is being made under the Vistula River bed so that the Polish FSRU will be connected to the Polish gas system.
The drilling of the tunnel for the pipeline is carried out using Direct Pipe technology on the route of the Gardeja-Kolnik gas pipeline in the Kwidzyn commune. This is the longest drilling on the construction site of this GAZ System gas pipeline.
Regasification in the Gulf of Gdańsk
– This pipeline is extremely important because by building a floating terminal for regasification in the Gulf of Gdańsk in the Gdańsk area, we are increasing energy security – says Prof. Marek Grzybowski – chairman of the Polish Nautological Society, president of the Baltic Maritime and Space Cluster – informs the portal www.netka.gda.pl.
FSRU Program
– GAZ System specializes in the use of non-invasive methods of passing gas pipelines under terrain obstacles. In the land and sea parts of the FSRU Program, we will repeatedly use the latest technologies that limit interference with the natural environment – said Sławomir Hinc, President of GAZ-SYSTEM. The over 1,000-meter section under the Vistula River will be laid at a depth of 17–18 meters.
Transport gas from Gdańsk to the vicinity of Włocławek
The gas pipeline has a diameter of one meter, the wall thickness of the pipe is 22 millimeters. The gas pipeline will transport gas from Gdańsk to the vicinity of Włocławek. It will be possible to pump about 700 thousand cubic meters of gas per hour – said Robert Parafianowicz – director of the GAZ-SYSTEM Branch in Gdańsk. It will be possible to transmit up to 1.5 million m3 of gas, or even more – added the director.

Laid the pipeline three times under the Vistula River
Between Gdańsk and Włocławek, over a distance of 250 kilometres, the pipeline will be laid three times under the Vistula River: in the Kwidzyn area, in the vicinity of Toruń and under the Martwa Wisła River.
An agreement with the Consortium
GAZ-SYSTEM signed an agreement with the Consortium, composed of: GAP INŞAAT YATIRIM VE DIŞ TİCARET A.Ş. as the Leader, UNITEK İNŞAAT SANAYI VE TICARET A.Ş. and FABE POLSKA SP. Z O.O., the general contractor of the offshore part of the FSRU Program in the Gulf of Gdańsk on April 2, 2025.
The FSRU terminal
The FSRU terminal with a capacity of 6.1 billion cubic meters per year will cover approximately 30 percent of the current annual demand for gas, increasing the security of supplies of this energy source for Poland and the countries of the Central and Eastern European region.
MOL’s order.
At the South Korean shipyard HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, an FSRU is being built on MOL’s order. MOL will be the operator of the FSRU.
