This is the first assessment of a seizure carried out in the port of Trieste by officials from the Customs and Monopolies Agency of Trieste and by the Guardia di Finanza, which led to the interception of goods such as trousers, shirts, pyjamas, caps, bags, belts, t-shirts and sweatshirts, all characterised by the presence of (fake) logos of brands such as Adidas, Balenciaga, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Chanel, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Dsquared, Fendi, Gucci, Guess, Hugo Boss, Louis Vuitton, Moncler, Prada, Stone Island, Versace
The Port of Trieste
It is noteworthy that the Port of Trieste complies with the CARGO – A.I.D.A. system requirements. The system provides to all the operators, in Italy and other EU Countries, additional on line information about the cargo status also under the customs point of view. The peculiar rules and regulations of the Free Port will be maintained thanks to an integrated IT system able to comply with the CARGO-AIDA requirements and the Free Port peculiarities.
5 different containers
Packed into 5 different containers, the goods – which were considered “of fine workmanship”, even by the experts delegated by the fashion houses themselves – came from the Turkish port of Ambarli and were destined for the Netherlands. The products, explains a note from Customs, were hidden behind a wall of various types of regularly declared textile products.

The investigations, still ongoing
The investigations, still ongoing, coordinated by the Deputy Prosecutor at the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Trieste Federico Frezza, took place in “convergence” with the European Anti-Fraud Office – Olaf, after further investigations conducted immediately after the seizure made it possible to ascertain that other shipments of textile products – with the same sender and recipient – were being prepared.

In detail, Olaf’s report led the Belgian authorities, Customs explain, to identify another container packed with counterfeit clothing and accessories and therefore to the arrest of five individuals of different nationalities.
