In response to rising cargo demand fuelled by ongoing disruptions in the Red Sea trade corridor, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has reinstated its China–India Osprey service. The resumption of sailings aims to provide shippers with additional capacity and more reliable connections between major Chinese export hubs and Indian ports.
The Red Sea crisis has led many carriers to reroute vessels around the Cape of Good Hope, resulting in longer transit times and reduced equipment availability across key east-west trade routes. Consequently, regional routes such as China–India have experienced increased demand from businesses seeking alternative supply chain solutions and quicker market access.
The Osprey service is being revived by MSC to support customers with improved schedule coverage, greater flexibility, and enhanced supply chain resilience amid ongoing volatility in global container shipping markets.
MSC provides an independent, competitive, and complete network for East/West trades. MSC’s standalone network replaces the 2M VSA agreement that MSC had with Maersk. As MSC assumed full operational control of its network, we offer our clients routing options both via Suez and the Cape of Good Hope, featuring a total of 34 loops across 5 key trades.
