MSC is set to move one of its main container shipping services between Asia and the Mediterranean from its transhipment hub in Gioia Tauro to the Conateco terminal in Naples. Pasquale Legora de Feo, the CEO of the latter terminal, confirmed to SHIPPING ITALY what Dynaliners revealed in its latest weekly report: "MSC will reorganise its Dragon and Tiger services between the Mediterranean and the Far East".
The Swiss shipping company has announced some changes to its Dragon line. Busan, Nansha, Gioia Tauro, and Charleston will be replaced by Malaga, Naples, Baltimore, and Savannah. At the same time, the "Tiger" service will be extended to Hong Kong and Aliaga, with Tema and Singapore (eastbound) being dropped. This rotation will use ultra-large container carriers with a capacity of up to 15,000 TEU. These will be the largest and most spacious vessels ever to call at ports in the Campania region.
