The fourth vessel, the Arnold Sr., is scheduled to be christened on 16 October. Stream Shipping already operates the AM Voyager and the AM Explorer, with the AM Lianova being the third vessel in that fleet.

Werkendam – Amer Shipping, the shipping company owned by the Buijks family from Raamsdonksveer, has once again purchased two CDS Dry Cargo 110 hulls from Concordia Damen. The first vessel, the *AM Lianova*, will operate for Stream Shipping, a joint venture between Amer Shipping and the German cooperative MSG eG. Stream Shipping is collaborating with skippers Bram and Lilian Timmer, who are set to become co-owners of the *Peter Buijks*. The second vessel—as yet unnamed—will join Amer Shipping’s own fleet. Delivery is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2027 and the second quarter of 2028.

Six ships in the series

 With this order, the CDS 110 series for Amer Shipping expands to six vessels. The series began in 2024 with the *Adriana Maria* (now the *AM Voyager*), followed by the *AM Explorer* and the *Johannes Sr.* The fourth vessel, the *Arnold Sr.*, is scheduled to be christened on October 16. Stream Shipping already operates the *AM Voyager* and the *AM Explorer*; the *AM Lianova* will be the third vessel in that fleet. Stream Shipping also holds an option for a fourth vessel. Skippers as co-owners

 Bram and Lilian Timmer (formerly of the *Simcha*) currently operate the *AM Explorer*. They are joining the *AM Lianova* project as shareholders alongside Amer Shipping and MSG (via Stream Shipping). According to Peter Buijks, Amer Shipping’s Managing Director, this new order is partly due to the strong performance of the two existing Stream Shipping vessels. The name *Lianova* was chosen in consultation with the shareholders. “It combines ‘Lia’—or Lilian—which is associated with concepts such as light and growth, with the Latin *nova*, meaning ‘new’. Together, the name aptly signifies ‘new light’ or ‘a new beginning’: a new vessel, a new partnership, and the continued growth of the joint fleet.”

Proven design available from stock

 Both vessels are based on Concordia Damen’s CDS 110 design: 110 by 11.45 meters, featuring a shallow draft and a low air draft. With a draft of 2.50 meters, the vessel can pass under bridges with a clearance of 4.25 meters. “We are once again choosing Concordia Damen because it is a forward-looking shipyard that is genuinely committed to improving its vessels,” says Peter Buijks. “This type has proven itself in practice. It is a major investment, but it literally generates more revenue for us. At the same draft, it carries up to 200 tonnes more cargo than a comparable 110-meter vessel, and thanks to the hull’s low resistance, fuel consumption is significantly lower.”

The hulls come from Concordia Damen’s stock inventory. Once again, the outfitting is being carried out by Ruijtenberg Shipyard, the yard owned by the Buijks family. Both companies are incorporating the experience gained from earlier vessels in the series into these new builds. A notable feature is that the shaft generator charges the battery pack while the vessel is underway; this means no generator needs to run during loading and unloading, allowing the ship to operate with zero emissions and no noise.

That continuity provides certainty for our clients. Each ship in this series is an improvement on the last, and that is how we are making inland shipping more fuel-efficient, step by step. The Dutch dry-cargo fleet is aging significantly; many vessels are eighteen years old or older. We want to rejuvenate the fleet, and we are doing so in collaboration with our clients and partners. The workforce in the sector is aging too, so we need—and want—to work with new people. It is wonderful that Bram and Lilian Timmer wanted to get involved in this venture together. An arrangement like this offers skippers security: a modern vessel, freight contracts, technical support, and access to our own shipyard.
