GBT Sp. z o.o. will be the temporary operator of the Baltic Grain Terminal (BTZ), which is resuming transshipment operations and increasing the Port of Gdynia's grain handling capacity. BTZ's resumption of operations comes at a time of increasing grain transshipment at Polish ports, and will enable the Port of Gdynia to better meet exporters' needs.
Between January and September 2026, the combined volume of grain transshipped at Poland's three largest seaports increased by 26% compared to the same period last year. The Port of Gdynia alone handled nearly 3.7 million tonnes of grain during this period, which was over 18% more than a year earlier.
" We're seeing a significant increase in grain transshipment at Polish ports. We're after the harvest and before the period when Polish grain will be exported to foreign markets. We want to be ready, first and foremost, to serve the current needs of Polish exporters, while also being able to transship additional volumes if they appear on the market, " says Piotr Gorzeński, President of the Port of Gdynia Authority SA.
The Baltic Grain Terminal accounts for approximately 10% of the Port of Gdynia's grain handling capacity. Grain cargo is currently handled by other terminals operating at the Port of Gdynia, and the resumption of operations at the Baltic Grain Terminal will increase the Port of Gdynia's available handling capacity and operational flexibility.
