Mediterranean Ports Association (MED PORT ASSOCIATION)announced the selection of Professor Dr. Alaa Mahmoud Morsi, Dean of the Port Training Institute (PTI) and the Research and Consulting Center for the Maritime Transport Sector, as Chairman of the Training and International Cooperation Committee for a period of two years, succeeding the Port of Valencia, in a new achievement that reflects the great confidence in the Dean’s expertise and his pivotal role in building capacities and developing human resources in the ports sector.

In a move reflecting the advanced position that the Port Training Institute (PTI) enjoys regionally and internationally, the General Assembly meeting of the Union of Mediterranean Ports (MEDPorts) was held today, Wednesday, January 21, 2026, which witnessed a number of important developments and outstanding achievements.
During the meeting, the presidency of the MEDPorts Union was officially transferred to Malta Free Port, as part of strengthening the partnership and exchange of experiences between member ports.

During the meeting, Professor Dr. Alaa Mahmoud Morsi reviewed clear and ambitious plans that align with the committee's objectives, emphasizing his commitment to enhancing training programs, supporting joint cooperation, and developing professional competencies within the MEDPorts network, thereby contributing to improved performance and achieving sustainable development for Mediterranean ports.
This achievement also underscores the leading role of the Port Training Institute as an accredited regional center and its ability to effectively represent Arab training institutions in international forums
