A shipwreck occurred in the waters off Southeast Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. A passenger boat carrying 20 people sank after its hull broke and water entered, but fortunately, all were rescued and there were no casualties.

Head of the Kolaka SAR Post, Haeruddin, gave a more detailed explanation of the chronology of the incident. KM Cahaya Intan Celebes departed from Bajoe Port at around 00.00 WITA.At 06.00 WITA, the ship experienced a hull leak due to being hit by large waves and strong winds. The crew tried to pump water out using four alkon engine units, but the effort was unable to keep up with the volume of water entering.
Seeing the increasingly critical condition of the ship, the ship's captain took the initiative to approach the fishing boat seen around the scene. All passengers and crew were successfully evacuated by local fishermen before the ship actually sank. All the survivors have received medical treatment at the Boepinang Health Center to ensure their health condition after the incident.
It is noteworthy that shortly after the accident, a fishing boat passing through the area quickly carried out a rescue operation, bringing all 20 crew and passengers aboard to safety. They were left floating at sea for a time but were rescued in time.
According to Wahyudi, spokesperson of Kendari Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas Kendari), the boat had departed from Bajoe Port in Bone Bay, South Sulawesi (Sulawesi Selatan), and was originally bound for Boepinang Port in Poleang District, Bombana Regency. Wahyudi noted that according to the passenger manifest, the vessel had 13 passengers and 7 crew members, for a total of 20 people, all safe and none lost.
