Over the past week, the ReCAAP ISC did not receive any reports of piracy or armed robbery against ships in Asia. The ReCAAP ISC (Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia) reported that there were no such incidents during this week
The ReCAAP ISC advises ships to intensify vigilance and maintain a sharp lookout while anchoring or transiting areas of concern, including the Strait of Malacca and the Strait of Singapore. The ISC also advises ships to report all incidents to law enforcement immediately. The ISC advises littoral states to increase patrols and enforcement in these areas.
For the sixth year in a row, there have been zero reports of abductions of crew members in the Sulu-Celebes Seas and waters off Eastern Sabah. The last incident occurred on January 17, 2020. In January 2025, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) further downgraded the threat level of "Abduction of Crew for Ransom in the Sulu-Celebes Seas" to "LOW." This means "no information or monitored activities suggest an impending attack, and incidents are not expected to occur."
In its February 14, 2025 advisory, the ReCAAP ISC advised ships to "exercise vigilance when transiting the Sulu-Celebes Seas and report incidents to the Operation Centres of the Philippines and the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM)."The advisory also recommended maintaining communication with the relevant authorities when transiting the area
It is noteworthy that the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) recently issued its 2025 annual report on piracy and armed robbery against ships in Asia. From January to December 2025, a total of 132 incidents of piracy and armed robbery against ships in Asia were reported to the ReCAAP ISC. This represents a 23 percent increase from the 107 incidents reported in 2024.Of these incidents, 127 were actual attacks and five were attempted attacks.

ReCAAP Information Sharing Centre (ReCAAP ISC) is the first regional government-to-government agreement (launched 2006, based in Singapore) designed to enhance security against piracy and armed robbery against ships in Asia. It facilitates information sharing, capacity building, and cooperative arrangements among 21 member countries to combat maritime crime.
