Authorities confirmed that the vessel has been detained by the local Water Police pending an investigation into the cause of the allision.
The Barbados-flagged general cargo vessel Wilson Gdynia en route from Rotterdam Waalhaven allided with the jetty at the entrance to the small locks of the Kiel Canal NOK_englisch in Brunsbüttel, Germany, in the afternoon of 30th July. No injuries or environmental pollution were reported.
The incident
On the afternoon of July 30, the 88 meter long, 3632 dwt cargo vessel Wilson Gdynia (IMO: 9056064) allided on the Elbe River at Brunsbüttel, Germany. The Wilson Gdynia was approaching the locks to the Kiel Canal in Brunsbüttel when it struck the jetty to the entrance to the small locks. Details to the extent of damage was not disclosed. The Wilson Gdynia was reported detained by the water police in Brunsbüttel while the incident is being investigated. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
Tanker Embla

Whereas on the afternoon of May 5, the 82.5 meter long, 3480 dwt carbon dioxide tanker Embla (IMO: 9279446) allided on the Kiel Canal in Brunsbüttel, Germany. The Embla was headed for Hamburg from Kiel when it struck the center wall in the new south lock. The Embla only suffered slight damage to its paint and the lock wall only suffered minor damage. There were no injuries and no pollution released. The water police opened an investigation into the incident.
