The Sultanate of Oman has strongly criticised the attacks, saying it is doing everything possible to protect its people and the country. Following an attack that caused damage to one of the cranes, the Port of Salalah was evacuated and operations were temporarily suspended.
Iran has escalated the frequency of its daily attacks on countries in the region and the Arabian Gulf. These attacks have targeted civilian and service facilities, as well as residential buildings, resulting in injuries and damage to property.
A port worker suffered minor injuries and a terminal crane was damaged in the attack. The port was immediately evacuated and operations across the facility were temporarily suspended as a result. The Port of Salalah is working closely with the relevant authorities and, as far as Maersk is concerned, operations are likely to be suspended for around 48 hours.
