In light of the worsening security situation in the Middle East due to the intensifying armed conflict, Maersk has made the decision, in consultation with their security partners, to temporarily suspend future Trans Suez sailings through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
.Maersk has announced on its website that it will suspend all operations for all vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz until further notice. The company added that services calling at ports in the Arabian Gulf may experience delays, rerouting, or schedule adjustments and that the safety of crews, vessels, and customer cargo remains a top priority following the escalation of the military conflict. This will be done in consultation with customers.
In the same vein, Maersk has reaffirmed its commitment to minimizing the impact on customer supply chains and activated its contingency plans. However, the situation remains volatile and is affecting air and sea freight operations, causing disruptions at terminals in the region. Currently,To ensure safety, decisions regarding vessel routes will be made on a case-by-case basis
