Temporarily suspend the FM1 service, which connects the Far East to the Middle East, as well as the ME11 service, which connects the Middle East to Europe.

A.P. Moller-Maersk announced that it has suspended its FM1 service, which links the Far East with the Middle East, as well as its ME11 service, which connects the Middle East with Europe. This decision follows a new operational review tied to the deteriorating security situation in the Gulf region.

According to an advisory dated March 6, the move follows the company’s latest risk assessment and aims to protect personnel and vessels while limiting disruption across its wider network .Gulf-region shuttle services have also been suspended by the carrier until further notice. The ME1 service, which connects the Middle East with Northern Europe, will temporarily stop at Jebel Ali while continuing to make its scheduled stops in India and Oman.

A series of operational measures

A series of operational measures have been introduced earlier this week as the company's network is being adjusted in response to security risks affecting key maritime corridors in the region .On March 5, Maersk stopped accepting cargo bookings to and from the United Arab Emirates, Oman (except Salalah), Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and the Saudi ports of Dammam and Jubail. Existing bookings to some of the affected destinations may be canceled if the containers have not yet been gated out.

On March 1 :Suspended all future Trans-Suez sailings

Meanwhile, on March 1, the group suspended all future Trans-Suez sailings through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The ME11 and MECL services were rerouted around the Cape of Good Hope. All vessel crossings in the Strait of Hormuz were also suspended until further notice.

The final westbound sailings

The final westbound sailings on the affected services have been identified in the advisory. The last FM1 westbound sailing is the Vung Tau Express, voyage 607W. It loads at Xingang on February 15 and phases out at Tanjung Pelepas on March 9. The final ME11 westbound sailing is the Astrid Maersk voyage 609W. It loads at Mundra on March 4 and phases out at Salalah on March 13.
