The order of its 50th DZ engine for the Damen Combi Freighter CF3850 series marks a key milestone for Anglo Belgian Corporation (ABC).To commemorate this achievement, Damen Shipyards' management visited ABC's production facilities in Ghent, underscoring the robust nature of their partnership and their ongoing commitment to providing efficient and dependable propulsion solutions.
This landmark occasion commemorates a collective accomplishment founded upon efficiency, innovation, and reliability. The CF3850 Series has set the standard in the short-sea shipping sector, and the DZ engine has been instrumental to the success of this reliable vessel platform.
Jean-Pierre Props, the area sales manager at ABC, said: "Reaching 50 engines for the CF3850 Series demonstrates Damen's confidence in ABC's reliable engine technology. We sincerely thank them for their continued collaboration and are proud to contribute to the success of these vessels.”

Arjan de Vries, the Manager of Procurement at Damen, shared his insights: "Fifty engines is more than a number — it's a track record. It reflects the confidence we have in ABC and their consistent performance with the CF3850 Series, including the fuel efficiency we see with the delivered vessels. This milestone marks our long-standing collaboration, which is built on trust, shared standards, and a clear focus on reliable ships for the short-sea market.”
The reputation of ABC's four-stroke, six-cylinder medium-speed engine is due to its reliability, durability, and efficiency. The 6DZ engine and its SCR exhaust aftertreatment system are class-approved and meet IMO Tier III emission standards. It offers excellent value for shipowners with its low life-cycle costs.

The availability of the CF3850 Series includes a 6DZ engine running on MDO, with an optional B100 (FAME) biodiesel capability for reduction of net CO2 emissions. Hybrid operation via PTO/PTI integration and wind-assisted propulsion readiness ensures flexibility for the future. With a modern hull design that minimizes resistance and maximizes fuel efficiency, a box-shaped hold with an optional tween deck and lashing eyes, and a 6DZ engine that runs on MDO with an optional B100 (FAME) biodiesel capability, the vessel offers versatile cargo transport while maintaining operational performance and environmental responsibility.
The continued collaboration between ABC and Damen Shipyards is reflected in this milestone, and their shared achievements in efficiency, innovation, and partnership are celebrated. Both companies are looking forward to building on this success together.
