Admiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), stated that navigation through the canal is proceeding as normal, despite the adverse weather conditions. On Wednesday, 39 ships passed through the Suez Canal in both directions, with a total net tonnage of 1.6 million tonnes. This demonstrates the Authority's capacity to manage the waterway effectively in challenging weather conditions, thanks to its sophisticated technological navigation monitoring systems and its expertise and specialised knowledge in various maritime domains.
The SCA Chairman was monitoring navigation from the main traffic control centre when he instructed that all precautionary measures and procedures for dealing with adverse weather conditions be taken. He also directed that all maritime units affiliated with the Authority adhere to the canal's navigational safety procedures, particularly during the boarding and disembarking of pilots and the routine procedures related to maritime operations.

Admiral Rabie emphasises that the Crisis and Disaster Management Committee is meeting around the clock to monitor navigation in the canal, the readiness of marine rescue teams and the level of readiness of rescue tugboats for rapid intervention in emergencies. The committee is also raising the level of readiness in the Authority's hospitals, medical centres, ambulance services and fire facilities. He also directed that there should be continuous communication and coordination with the operations rooms of the canal cities to provide them with necessary support in an emergency
