The General Authority for Borders and Customs in Syria has launched a project to rehabilitate the phosphate quay at Tartous Port, aiming to align operations with international environmental standards.
Director of Relations at the authority, Mazen Alloush, said the plan includes structural repairs, upgraded loading equipment, and new systems to reduce dust and emissions from bulk cargo handling. Closed transport systems and improved storage methods are also part of the project.
According to officials, the modernisation is expected to boost exports, cut costs, and reinforce Tartous Port's position as a regional logistics hub.
