To Maestral, the Abu Dhabi-based shipbuilding joint venture composed of Fincantieri and Edge group active globally in the advanced technology and defense sector, the Tawazun Council has awarded an important “In-Service Support Strategic Partnership Project” for the entire fleet of the United Arab Emirates Navy.ٍاShipping Italy reported
The Tawazun Council is an independent government body that works closely with the Ministry of Defense and security agencies in the UAE. The value of the agreement is approximately 500 million euros with a duration of five years.
The contract was announced by Hamad Al Marar, general director and managing director of Edge Group, Rodrigo Torres, financial director of Edge Group, Biagio Mazzotta, president of Fincantieri, Pierroberto Folgiero, managing director and general director of Fincantieri, and Dario Deste, general director of Fincantieri’s Military Ships Division.

Maestral – a joint venture announced in May 2024, created with the aim of developing new opportunities in the naval sector, from the design to the construction and marketing of advanced naval units and services – will operate as a strategic industrial partner, managing the maintenance of the UAE Navy at 360 degrees with the aim of guaranteeing its maximum operational and logistical needs, while at the same time supporting, over the next five years, its transformation path towards new performance levels

The In-Service Support Strategic Partnership Project will see close collaboration between Fincantieri and Edge Group company, Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding, as part of the Maestral joint venture. This unique synergy will make it possible to enhance the combined skills of the shipyards, leveraging extensive technical, engineering and management know-how to guarantee the highest level of efficiency and performance for the UAE Navy
