A review of the group's upcoming Suez Canal transit schedules was included in the meeting.

Since the start of this year, the canal has been passed through by 199 CMA CGM vessels, totalling 25.2 million tons.

The Executive Vice President of Assets and Operations at the CMA CGM Group stated: 'We affirm the Group's commitment to increasing transit services through the Canal and expanding the number of vessels operating across various services.'

Today, Tuesday, Admiral Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, met with Ms Christine Cabau, Executive Vice President of Assets and Operations at the CMA CGM Group, and Mr Tarek Zaghloul, CEO of the CMA CGM Group in Egypt and Sudan, via videoconference to discuss ways to enhance future cooperation. This meeting is part of the Suez Canal Authority's proactive strategy to establish direct communication channels with all its clients. The meeting involved an exchange of views on the future of relations between the two parties, as well as a discussion of the group's shipping policies through the Suez Canal.

Admiral Osama Rabie expressed his pride in the strategic partnership between the Suez Canal Authority SCA and the French CMA CGM Group at the meeting's outset and appreciated the group's commitment to relying on the Suez Canal as a primary route for its voyages. The Authority's Chairman noted that the canal's 2025 navigation reports recorded the transit of 212 CMA CGM Group vessels, totalling 18.8 million net tons. Since the beginning of this year, 199 French group vessels have transited the canal, totalling 25.2 million net tons, reflecting a significant increase in transit rates.

Conversely, Ms Christine Cabau, Executive Vice President of Assets and Operations at the CMA CGM Group, expressed her anticipation of expanding future cooperation, given the increasing number of the group's vessels returning to transit the Suez Canal.

The Vice President of Assets and Operations at the CMA CGM Group confirmed the company's commitment to resuming Suez Canal transits as soon as possible. She added that the group is working to increase the number of vessels transiting the canal, as well as the number of ships operating on various services. This will establish the Suez Canal as a key route within the French group's fleet. She explained that the CMA CGM fleet is experiencing an unprecedented surge in adopting more sustainable operating technologies. A significant portion of its fleet now relies on liquefied natural gas (LNG). This is a more environmentally friendly fuel.
