IMF expresses optimism about the Suez Canal's performance during November, and CBE revises its forecasts upwards
The Suez Canal Authority SCA will hold international press conference on the 25th of this month, attended by the Maersk Group and its CEO, .Vincent Clerc , Admiral Osama Rabie will review the most important developments regarding navigation through the canal and advanced maritime activities and services.
It is worth noting that the authority previously announced before that .the return of Maersk to transit through the Suez Canal where Adm. Osama Rabie emphasized e: "This is an opportune moment to return to transiting through the Suez Canal once more and seriously consider amending the Group's navigation schedules"
On the other hand CEO of A.P. Moller-Maersk Group: "Maersk via Zoom Conference is keen on taking the initiative to fully return to the Suez Canal after holding discussions with the SCA and studying all the indicators"
Chief Operating Officer of A.P. Moller-Maersk Group: "We want Maersk to be the first shipping line to fully resume navigation through Bab Al-Mandab, ushering in the return of the situation back to normal"

Admiral Ossama Rabiee, Chairman and Managing Director of SCA, had discussed ways of promoting future cooperation with Maersk Group, during his meeting with Mr Vincent Clerc, Chief Executive Officer of A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, Ms. Rabab Boulos, Chief Operating Officer, Member of the Executive Board of A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, Mr. Ahmed Hassan, Vice President of Operations of A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, and Mr. Hani El-Nady, Representative of A.P. Moller-Maersk Group in the Middle East and North Africa, via video conference.
Clerc emphasized : the Group's keenness on taking the initiative to fully return to the Suez Canal and Bab Al-Mandab for the unique significance of the Canal. That is after deliberations with the SCA on the return mechanisms through holding bilateral discussions between both parties and careful studying of the security situation in the region.
In this context, the Suez Canal witnessed a noticeable improvement in transit traffic during the first half of November, according to data from the "Port Watch" platform of the International Monetary Fund ( IMF ) The number of transiting ships rose to 574 during the first 16 days of the month, compared to 541 ships during the same period last year, representing a growth of 6%.The total tonnage of the artefacts recorded an increase of 1.5% to reach 19 million tons.
In a related development, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE ) raised its forecast for Suez Canal revenues during the twelve months from October 2025 to September 2026 to $4,56 billion, compared to previous forecasts of $3,8 billion for the period from September 2025 to October 2026, indicating official optimism about improved future revenues for the world's most important waterway.
